T2 Education and Training

The National Center for Telehealth & Technology (T2) is a component center of the Defense Centers of Excellence for Psychological Health and Traumatic Brain Injury (DCoE). T2's Education and Training Program (E&T) highlights the use of mobile health tools, such as apps and the use of technology to augment the care providers offer their patients. Using evidence-based behavioral health research, E&T provides education, training and resources to health care providers, psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and nurses across the military health system.

American Psychological Association Clinician’s Corner: Serving Military Veterans: Understanding Their Experiences and Clinical Implications

With more than 2.3 million Americans now having deployed to the war zones in Iraq and Afghanistan, the prevalence of psychological problems in the veteran population is an increasingly significant public health problem. Mental health clinicians need to understand the unique experiences and needs of this population, whether they are treating the veterans themselves or working with their partners and families. This workshop provides a wealth of information about this population that will be useful in guiding clinical work regardless of professional focus or theoretical orientation.

From the War Zone to the Home Front: Supporting the Mental Health of Veterans and Families

Massachusetts General Hospital Psychiatry Academy’s free, online training series helps health care professionals in the community recognize and address the challenges faced by Iraq and Afghanistan veterans and their families. The series is presented as a community service by the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base Program and the National Center for PTSD, U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

The Center for Deployment Psychology (CDP) Quarterly Webinars

The series is hosted by CDP subject matter experts, as well as guest speakers, and covers a variety of deployment and military psychology-related topics. The webinars include time for questions from the audience. Afterwards, recordings of the presentations are available for on-demand viewing. The 1 to 1.5 hour webinars are presented via Adobe Connect. Advance registration is required to attend. Participants who attend the live webinar and complete a post-training survey will be eligible for 1 CE credit per webinar.

Joining Forces Wellness Week

CDP partnered with Joining Forces to present a series of hour-long webinars on November 10-14, 2014. These five webinars focused on helping service members, veterans and their families and featured numerous guest presenters from a variety of great organizations. Topics include military culture, taking a military health history, military and veteran transitions, parents of service members and telehealth.

Suicide Prevention Resource Center Research (SPRC) to Practice Webinars

Addresses the science of suicide prevention in practical terms. They are designed for practitioners, researchers, and others working in the field. Each invitational webinar is 90 minutes in length and moderated by an SPRC staff member. An archive of past webinars can be accessed using the Windows Media Player or the RealOne Player. Supplementary materials available for each session include a description of the webinar, speaker biographies, copies of presentation slides and handouts, and an audio recording of the event.

Center for Deployment Psychology

The Center for Deployment Psychology trains military and civilian behavioral health professionals to provide high-quality, deployment-related behavioral health services to military personnel and their families. Training includes in-person and online trainings in empirically supported treatments as well as military culture.

National Center for PTSD

The National Center for PTSD has training materials as well as information and tools to help clinicians with assessment and treatment of PTSD.
