Comprehensive Policy on Pain Management by the Military Health Care System

The report is submitted in response to section 711 of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2010, which requires the Department of Defense (DoD) to develop and implement a comprehensive policy on pain management by the Military Health System (MHS) and provide a report to Committees on Armed Services of the Senate and House. The legislation requires the report to address specific key elements, to include a description of the policy and any changes made annually, ongoing research, provider training, beneficiary education, and adequacy and effectiveness of pain management services.
