Psychological Health Mobile Applications

VA and other government agencies offer a variety of psychological health mobile aps which can be used anywhere and anytime. Some can be used confidentially which helps to overcome stigma and to complement clinical care, or can serve as a virtual case manager, or gently prompt a user to adjust activity or medication level. These apps were designed to improve the lives of our nation’s warriors, veterans, and their families in a simple and user-friendly way.

Clinician Focused

  • ACT Coach

    Designed for service members, veterans and others to use along with face-to-face treatment with a mental health provider in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

  • PFA Mobile

    Designed to assist responders who provide psychological first aid (PFA) to adults, families and children as part of an organized response following a disaster or emergency. This app is a supplement to other resources that trained individuals utilize before, during and after a disaster response. It allows responders to review PFA guidelines and hear tips on putting PFA into practice in the field.

  • CBT-I Coach

    Designed as a support for individuals engaged in cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-i) to use with a health provider, or for those individuals who have experienced symptoms of insomnia and would like to improve their sleep habits.

  • Concussion Coach

    A mobile app for veterans, service members and others who have symptoms of a concussion or mild-to-moderate traumatic brain injury (TBI). This app is intended to support face-to-face treatment with a health provider and provides portable, convenient tools for the patient to assess symptoms and cope with TBI-related problems.

  • CPT Coach

    A mobile application for individuals participating in cognitive processing therapy (CPT), an evidence-based psychotherapy for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

  • Mindfulness Coach

    Created to introduce the concept of mindfully focusing attention and to facilitate the acquisition of the skill through practice.

  • Mood Coach

    Mood Coach is an app for Veterans, Service members, and others to learn and practice Behavioral Activation. This app is designed to help you boost your mood through participation in positive activities. You can make a plan with positive activities and track your progress

  • Moving Forward

    Features problem-solving therapy (PST) tools designed to teach skills for overcoming life problems. PST is an evidence-based cognitive behavioral treatment for depression and other distress.

  • Parenting2Go

    An application designed for military and veteran parents with tools to help them reconnect with their families after a deployment and build closer relationships with their children. Based on original curriculum developed by leading experts, these resources help parents learn how to address both everyday parenting problems and family issues unique to the military experience.

  • PE Coach

    The first mobile app designed to support the tasks associated with prolonged exposure treatment for PTSD. Providing hip-pocket access to the necessary tools for successful PE participation, the app includes audio recording capability for easy playback after sessions; tools to support patient tasks between sessions; and visual displays of symptom reduction over time.

  • PTSD Coach

    An app to assist veterans and active duty personnel (and civilians) who are experiencing symptoms of PTSD. It is intended to be used as an adjunct to psychological treatment, but can also serve as a stand-alone education tool.

  • PTSD Family Coach

    PTSD Family Coach is for family members of those living with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The app provides extensive information about PTSD, how to take care of yourself, how to take care of your relationship with your loved one or with children, and how to help your loved one get the treatment they deserve.

    A mobile app that helps prevent relapse after smoking cessation, best used while in treatment with a therapist or after treatment.
